Big Magic

“And while the paths and outcomes of creative living will vary wildly from person to person, I can guarantee you this: A creative life is an amplified life. It’s a bigger life, a happier life, an expanded life, and a hell of a lot more interesting life. Living in this manner– continually and stubbornly bringing forth the jewels that are hidden within you–is a fine art, in and of itself. Because creative living is where Big Magic will always abide.” -Elizabeth Gilbert #bigmagic #elizabethgilbert @elizabeth_gilbert_writer #loveeveryday #joyeverydamnday #expandingjoy #itsaboutthejourney #alwayssearchingfornewtruths βœ¨βœ¨πŸ˜˜πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™β€οΈβœ¨βœ¨βœ¨πŸŒ…πŸŒ…πŸŒ…

How do you live everyday?

How do you live everyday? What ignites you? What fills you up so much that people can see your soul shining? As we go on the journey, and those moments of joy are all about the journey. That journey is filled with bad moods and grouchiness sometimes as we flow throughout our days. How can we change the story and turn it around to learn and grow from it? I go out in nature and immerse myself in the sand and the waves. I let the love of my boys fill me up. I surround myself with the strongest women that teach me to love and trust everyday. How do you continue to grow and seek that fire inside?

Flow and Spread your joy out to everyone!

I wanted to share this video my good friend Cherie Healey asked me to be a part of. She is awesome. It was so fun to share one of my passions of being at the ocean with my kids with the world. What is your passion? What makes you smile so big that other people are turned on by your light? Let’s all share that raw energy with each other and change the world together.

education and life

There have been many photos of kids going back to school on social media in the past few weeks. It’s great to see everyone’s children growing up and changing. Here at Redwood Sky we don’t really have a first day of school, because we are just living and incorporating our learning all year round. When we first started homeschooling seven years ago we were much more traditional in our approach, but like everything in life that has evolved and changed over time. We live our lives following our passions and experiencing the world around us now, and that is pretty sweet.

This week we will be going to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Maybe that should be our first day of school photo? πŸ™‚ Β We always go at the end of the summer, because the first year we started homeschooling we wanted our experience to start out crazy and full of fun. This year is pretty special too. Story has been waiting to be tall enough to ride all of the rides and now he has reached that goal.

As we continue this journey incorporating education into our daily life, I can’t wait to see what will unfold this year. When we first started, this open way of thinking was scary and I questioned it having been a teacher in a traditional public school setting. Now it feels amazing to embrace and observe Kai and Story outside and free. You can learn in an organic, fluid way through a life immersed in nature, technology, and adventures. It is possible and pretty amazing.
